Which Affiliate Programs Should I Join?
Written by admin on May 28th, 2008 in Infopreneurship.
Affiliate marketing is a cool way of earning online and it is considered as the second biggest source of income for infopreneurs after Content matched ads. Affiliate programs are free to join and now- a -days almost every merchant offers these programs with 15 to 30% commission. But still there are numerous factors that need to be considered before selecting any affiliate program.
Avoiding the Cookies Scams?
The concept of affiliate marketing revolves around temporary computer cookies because online buying behavior is different from offline purchases. The primary job of every affiliate is to send traffic to the merchant’s website through their referral id or links and actual sale may take place after few hrs, weeks or months.
When visitors will visit merchants through your affiliate link, this will create a temporary cookie in their computers to track your sales. All quality affiliate programs offer permanent cookies and you will get your commission even if the actual sale takes place after few months or so.
But still there are some programs that offer cookies for a limited time period 30, 60, 90,120 and 150 days cookies and I consider these programs as scams because they are just exploiting their affiliates. So if you join any affiliate program that offer time based cookies then you will not get any commission after the expiration of these cookies.
Affiliate Product Should Be Problem Solving
Your affiliate product should be problem solving. For instance if your niche is music or any sub category of music and you think that a particular brand of music instrument is better for beginners then you can join affiliate program of your suggested musical instrument. Joining each and every program according to your niche is a bad idea as some times infopreneurs have to make a clear opinion.
Affiliate Program Should Offer Residual Income
Affiliate marketers spend a lot of time in marketing any product or service that is why I don’t recommend single tier programs. Single tier programs only pays commission when there is a sale through your referral link. All quality merchants offer 2 tier or multi tier affiliate programs to provide good residual income to their affiliates.
Quality Customer Service And Promotional Forums:
It is the responsibility of merchants to guide their affiliates and provide quality customer service and promotional material. There are some merchants that have discussion forums and some affiliate programs like IMC also arrange conference calls for their affiliates.
